How to Enjoy Turmeric as A Beverage

Stay warm and healthy this season with turmeric! This golden yellow spice contains a plethora of health benefits including digestive and inflammatory aide. Adding a little to your diet can also help keep your immune system on top of its game (along with all those great fruits and veggies you eat on the daily). One wonderful benefit of turmeric that I personally have experienced is its digestive remedies. Turmeric is apart of the same family as ginger, so it is no surprise that it is also great for the digestive system. When my stomach is upset or I am feeling unwell, drinking turmeric tea makes me feel 100% again in a short amount of time. I have included two recipes that make adding turmeric to your diet delicious and easy!

It may seem odd adding black pepper to these recipes, but turmeric and black pepper go hand in hand. Black pepper helps the body absorb turmeric so you can enjoy all of the health benefits. Do not worry though! A small pinch will do the trick.

Turmeric Hot Cocoa

Perfect for a cozy day, this hot cocoa is deliciously healthy! Turmeric hot cocoa is great for when you are in the mood for a chocolate treat but do not want to deal with the excess calories. Feel relaxed knowing that you can enjoy this sugar free beverage anytime.

Ingredients

– 2 Tbsp turmeric powder or fresh ground turmeric

– 1 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder

– 1 Cup almond milk*

– Pinch of black pepper

– Stevia**

* Use your preferred choice of milk. **Use your preferred choice of sweetener.

Directions

In a small pot heat the milk on med-high heat. Mix in turmeric, cocoa, black pepper, and sweetener. Let simmer for 2-3 minutes. Serve and enjoy!

Turmeric Tea

Turmeric tea is one of the best home remedy for a stomach ache. This warm tea is soothing and helps to make you feel better in no time! Enjoy a cup in the morning or at night when you are winding down from a long day.

Ingredients

– 2 Tbsp turmeric powder or fresh ground turmeric

– Pinch of black pepper

– Stevia*

– Hot water

*Use your preferred choice of sweetener.

Directions

In a teacup add turmeric, black pepper, and sweetener. Pour in hot water. Let steep for 2-3 minutes. Enjoy!
